The 15th World Congress & Exhibition on Design & Health (WCDH 2026) will bring together experts from healthy cities, architecture, public health, psychology, urban planning, engineering, and design to explore how cities can be healthier, more sustainable, and better prepared for climate challenges.
WCDH 2026 focuses on creating places that support well-being, social connection, and active living. This academy is founded by Professor Alan Dilani, Ph.D. Architect and Public Health Scientist, a global authority award-winning internationally recognized at the Karolinska Institute in 1997. The academy organizers global forums for promoting the ongoing international exchange of research findings among scientists, designers, health professionals, industry, and Ministries of Health worldwide. Our commitment to the impact of salutogenic design on health promotion is unwavering, believing that the built environment should empower, support, and sustain health and wellbeing.
The Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) is a government-funded public university located in the heart of Borneo – the world’s richest site for biodiversity and indigenous knowledge. Established in 1992, UNIMAS is a prominent global player in empowering communities, nurturing creativity, and pioneering innovation for a sustainable world. UNIMAS aims to provide quality education and promote research that addresses regional and global challenges. The university offers a wide range of programmes across various fields, including medical, arts, sciences, engineering, and social sciences.
Previous Conferences
World Congress of Design and Health has been recognised globally for its contributions to health-promoting design. Previous conferences were hosted at prestigious venues including Trondheim Hospital in Norway, the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, and McGill University in Montreal. Additional events were convened in Frankfurt, Glasgow, and Singapore, followed by sessions in Boston, Kuala Lumpur, Brisbane, Toronto, and Hong Kong. Recent editions took place in Vienna and Milano, with the latest gathering held in Singapore before the upcoming conference in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. The series has been celebrated for fostering multidisciplinary dialogue and shaping sustainable healthcare design practices worldwide, achieving excellence.

Eligibility
Abstracts must align with the conference’s thematic areas and meet submission requirements. Submissions must be original, unpublished, and scientifically relevant. Authors must register for the conference to ensure eligibility.
Submission Guidelines
Submit an abstract of 300 words in English and relevant to the conference theme and subtopics. The abstract should clearly state the purpose, design / methodology / approach, findings, research limitations / implications / originality / value.

Visa Exemptions:

Sarawak has a tropical climate with temperatures ranging from 24–32°C, slightly cooler at night or during rain. The monsoon season (November–February) brings rainfall but plenty of sunshine is still expected year-round.
